Floral Wrasse - a flower within a coral garden

Floral wrasse, very much reflecting its name, appearing like a flower as it swims through a coral garden of brown and green corals matching its colouring. Wrasse are a large and diverse family of fish, the majority of which are brightly coloured with intricately detailed markings. Although typically wrasse are small fish inhabiting the reef (most of them under 20 cm), there are a few exceptionally large members such as the Napoleon (or Humphead) Wrasse.

Distribution: Indo-Pacific: East Africa to the Marquesan and Tuamoto islands, north to the Ryukyu Islands, south to New Caledonia and Rapa.
