Moorish Idol swimming by an Acropora corals occupied by Basslets as it makes its way through the aquamarine waters surrounding the coral reef. Moorish idols inhabit shallow waters of tropical to subtropical reefs and lagoons. The name Moorish Idol originates from the Moors of Africa who believed them to be the bringer of happiness. Moorish Idols are often confused with Schooling Bannerfish and Pennant Coralfish.
