Puffins are most recognisable during their breeding season, when they sport a bright orange beak and matching feet. However, in the winter, their colours fade to a more muted shade. These birds are considered monogamous, choosing the same mate every breeding season. Furthermore, both parents share the responsibility of fishing, incubating the egg and raising the chick.
