The Lyretail Anthias, also known as the Scalefin, is a vibrantly coloured fish that inhabits the coral reefs of the Red Sea and the Indian Ocean. This striking species is known for its elongated dorsal fin and beautiful shades of pink, orange, and yellow. Flitting amongst a coral reef in the Indian Ocean, these Anthias reflect the colours of the beautiful corals. In the wild, Lyretail Anthias live in large schools and have a unique social structure known as a harem, where one dominant male resides over a group of females. Fascinatingly, this species is hermaphroditic and females have the ability to change into males when the dominant male dies.
