They can live for up to 15 years in the wild, but some have been reported to live over 25 years in protected environments. Though not currently considered endangered, grey herons, like many species, are threatened by habitat loss and pollution. They are protected by law in many areas, which ensures their survival and proliferation for future generations to enjoy.
