Round Ribbontail Ray surfing the waves
Round Ribbontail Ray surfing through aquamarine waves along the seashore. Round Ribbontail Rays inhabit sandy bays, outer reef slopes and shallow lagoons. Round Ribbontail Ray are normally seen at depths from 20 to 60 metres, though they often frequent the waves on the edges of sandy seashores as they forage for bottom fish, crabs and shrimp. They are grey or deep gray in colour with large black bloches patterned across their dorsal surface. The Round Ribbontail Ray is not aggressive though if provoked will use its venomous tail spine to defend itself. Round Ribbontail Ray (Taeniura meyeni).
