Spotted Unicornfish mirroring the multi-coloured coral reef

Spotted Unicornfish swimming through the coral reef shallows, it's patterns of olive-green with brown spots and stripes blending with the colours of the Acropora corals and other shades of reef, giving it camouflage as it skirts through the corals. Spotted Unicornfish are a widespread and cosmopolitan fish, occupying a variety of environments and depths, from deep down along steep outer lagoon drop-offs to rocky shorelines or shallow reefs with strong currents. Spotted Unicornfish also show variety in their in coloration, from bluish or greenish grey to olive-green brown.

Distribution: Indo-Pacific: Red Sea south to Durban, eastwards to Pitcairn Islands and Hawaiian Islands, northwards to southern Japan, southwards to Lord Howe Island and Ningaloo Reef off western Australia. Eastern Pacific: Galapagos Islands.
