Valentinni's Sharpnose Puffer hovering within delicate strands of soft corals along a reef edge, defending its territory from other fish.Both male and female Valentinni's Sharpnose Puffers are highly territorial as the males are haremic, spawning with a different female each day. They have four distinct saddle shaped stripes along their backs and are consequently also known as Saddled Puffer.

Depth: 1 - 55 metres
Diet: Filamentous green and red algae, tunicates, smaller amounts of corals, mollusks, brown and coralline red algae
Habitat: Coral heads, rocks, subtital lagoons, coastal reefs
Distribution: Indo-Pacific: Red Sea south to Durban, South Africa and east to the Tuamoto Islands, north to southern Japan, south to Lord Howe Island.
